| Legs For Lyman ~ 2009 |
*2006 we raised $1,000 for our first year.
*2007 we raised almost $13,000 in KC.
*2008 our KC team has raised almost $14,000 to date, thanks largely to our family and friends making
donations of their own and the effort to pass this cause along to their friends and family. This was a HUGE
resource this year. Thank you a million, all of you! We also spawned off two other teams this year!
*Shelley's Uncle Brian owns the Jim N' Nicks restaurants in Atlanta and raised $4800, donated BBQ for
500 people, got donations for the other food and supplies for another 400 people just by calling and asking.
They happened to call a person who's daughter is a CF nurse and wanted to do all he could to help, so he
donated the other stuff. Brian also had 25 people join to cook and walk for Cystic Fibrosis. As if that wasn't
enough, they had a police escort through town for his wife and daughters to take the leftovers to the Union
Mission for the homeless and provided an awesome experience for his entire family and staff!
*The third team was started by some very good friends, Stuart and Erika Hayes in Canton, CT We still
keep in touch, and are very blessed to have friends like these. This year they raised about $600 in their first
year just by talking to co-workers. They also hit close to home with someone, just by asking. Stuart had a
member join them who has a 29 year old (Woo-Hoo) step-brother with CF and wanted to help!
*The final and biggest news of our Great Strides campaign is that this year is that in 2007, our $13,000
was the 3rd highest funds raised and only by a few hundred dollars. in 2008 our $14,000 wasn't even in the
top five amounts raised! Let's hear it for awareness and getting people involved! YEAH!
